Set in Shirakawa, 150 metres from Shirakawago, GuestHouse Shirakawa-Go INN offers accommodation with a shared lounge and free private parking. Very convenient location. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Parking available for vehicles. The building and the room was perfectly warmed. They’ll provide you a small towel and you can rent bath towels if you aren’t carrying one.

Only a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Station, K's House Takayama Oasis offers free WiFi throughout the property. COMFY BEDS 🙌 (unusual in Japan in my experience so far, but my back and hips are recovered after 3 nights here!) So so clean. The privacy of a capsule with a curtain and cosy bed 'compartment', but a lovely lovely shared space where I met lots of people. Fab kitchen facilities. Great location (5 mins walk from train and bus station, right in the town). Good bathroom facilities.

Sakura Guest House is a 10-minute walk from Hida Takayama-mura Folk Village, and offers private and dormitory rooms with free Wi-Fi and shared bathrooms. Rented bikes during our stay, which was super convenient. A bit of a walk from the station but the views were worth it. The Hida Folk Village was only a short ride away.

Featuring a shared lounge, Hostel Miyagawa by Murasaki Ryokan is located in the centre of Takayama, less than 1 km from Takayama Station. Awesome location right next to the Miyagawa river across from the morning market, nice traditional style Japanese room with tatami mats and futon mattresses, had a warm and welcoming lounge area with basic cooking amenities (fridge, hot water, dishes/utensils, etc) and even free teas with snacks. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, definitely a great place to stay if you're not that proficient in Japanese (some staff spoke fluent English). They offered free baggage storage even after checkout on the same day. I should also note that the place has just opened up this march of 2024 so all the utilities (showers, toilets, heaters, etc) are brand new and work excellently. The (very spacious) room came equipped with plenty of natural light from windows, adjustable warm/cold light, a gas heater, and the aforementioned futon/electric blankets. Easily the best hostel in Takayama and possibly all of Gifu prefecture, can't recommend it highly enough.

Boasting spacious hot spring baths for a fee, Natural Onsen Hostel Hidamari no Yu is hostel accommodation located in Takayama. The place is really good, and the onsen is very nice, The staff is very nice and helpful, There is not a close bus station but they provide shuttle to takayama station, We really enjoyed our stay!

Situated in Takayama, 2.1 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Tomato Takayama Station features views of the city. With free WiFi, this 2-star hostel offers a shared kitchen and a shared lounge. Everything was good. Nothing amazing, but no disappointments.
